Week of September 14 to September 18

Post date: Sep 17, 2015 2:30:09 PM

First, General tutoring will begin this week for students who need help with HW. Tutoring his held in the media. Tutoring begins at 7:40 and will close at 8:15. Students who come after 8:15 will need to report to the cafeteria. While in tutoring students will be expected to work on the previous nights homework or projects. IF students are in tutoring with nothing to complete they will be expected to work on computer based programs like Study Island or SuccessMaker to help improve their skills. There will be no tutoring available this Wednesday due to our monthly staff meeting.

Next, just a reminder that we don’t have some on staff to monitor students until 7:30 a.m. as per teacher and employee work schedules. I have been in the building this past week before 7 to open to help cool the building down in the AM and students were arriving then. Please note that we will not be able to monitor your child until the designated start time of our employees.

Our 6th graders will complete their district benchmark testing on Monday. Again once our testing is done, we will share this information with our community.

Tuesday, Heaton will be hosting a league cross country meet. There will be more than usual traffic around our campus. Again, I encourage parents to park in a designated spot students can walk to meet you at. We have had some traffic issues because the street rules are not being followed. Our first priority is student safety. Please note that parking on the street on Adair and allowing your child to run to meet you in the street is a safety risk. Please find a designated parking spot and wait for your child to meet you.

Our PTO will have their first meeting on Thursday, September 17 at 4:30 p.m.. Please join us in the media center.

There is no school on Friday for district professional development.

Congratulations to the East High Football team in their victory over South on Friday night to win back the Canon. A lot of former Heaton Hawks playing in that game and on their team. It is always a pleasure to hear that former Heaton Hawks are doing well. Congrats to East.

Good luck to our sports teams this week in the multiple games they have. All teams have started the season of well!

If you have any questions about these announcements, please contact the school. Thank you.
