Post date: Oct 4, 2015 10:51:21 PM
Good Evening Heaton Parents, This is Jayme Cardinal Principal at Heaton. Here are the announcements for the week of October 5 through Oct. 9
First and most important, there will be some Traffic changes beginningtomorrow, October 5. A flyer regarding this went home on Friday. Please ask your child to see it. The change involves Adair, the street directly in front of the school. Westbound traffic on Adair is now closed. No traffic will be allowed on Adair from Comanche. The ONLY way to access Adair is come from Caledonia. Pueblo Streets and Bridges is doing a traffic study to see if turning Adair into a one way would help with the traffic issues. Again the only way to access Adair is to use Caledonia. Again, as I have asked in the past, please find a space to park on the side streets and have your child walk to meet you. I again am asking parents not to stop in the street and have your child run to meet you. It is a major safety issue for your child. This traffic study of closing Adair is in effect for the next two weeks. I will keep you updates as to the results.
Wednesday of this week is National Walk to School Day. We have one of three spots where staff will meet students to walk to school. The three spots are McNaughton and Bonforte at the top end Near CSUP at the light, the bottom end of Bonforte and McNaugton in the Christ the King Parking Lot, and on the corner of Jerry Murphy and Calhoun. Staff will begin walking at8AM from these spots to make it back to heaton on time for school to start. Students who walk will be entered into a raffle to win fabulous prizes including a bike, ipod shuffles and other sport equipment.
Also on Wednesday, students who are in Mr. Caps and Mr. Smiths CTE Academy classes, who qualified based on grades and behavior rwill be going to the Manufacturing EXPO in Colorado Springs. They will be leaving at 9:30and return by 2:30. This is an exciting opportunity for our students interested in careers in manufacturing.
