Post date: Oct 16, 2017 1:35:06 PM

Good Evening Heaton Families,

This is Jayme Cardinal, Principal at Heaton calling with announcements for the week of October 16 through October 20th.

    1. This past week, our overall average percentage attendance was 91%. 6th grade was 92%, 7th grade was 90% and 8th grade was 90%. This is about the time of year that we start to see a decline in student attendance which is something worth noting. As a reminder, students cannot learn when they are not in school.

    2. This week, we are completing District Interim testing in ELA and Math. We use these assessments to make adjustments to our instruction for all students.

    3. The 1st quarter ends this Friday. Report cards will go home after Fall Break. Fall Break is coming up. There is no school from October 23 through October 27. School will resume on October 30th.

    4. Our band and choir students have concerts this week. The 7th, 8th and Jazz Bands will have a concert on Tuesday, October 17, at 7PM at EAST High School Auditorium. The choirs have their performance on Wednesday, October 18, at 7PM at Heaton Middle School Auditorium.

    5. Clearing for Boys basketball will take place this week in the school office from 9AM to 3PM with Ms. Vickie. Clearing means students must have a current physical on file, parent-student agreement form, green emergency cards and $45 fee. Tryouts will be held next week October 23rd, 24th , and 25th from 5-6:30PM in our gym. If you have any questions about clearing, please contact Mr. Crowell, our Athletic Director. 549-7427

    6. This is the last Friday that Student Council will be collecting socks for Socktober. Students who donate new socks will be entered into a drawing for multiple prizes we are giving away including gift cards and spirit t-shirts.

    7. Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, October 17th at 4PM. If you are interested in helping, please come.

    8. Our “Guadalupe Rodriguez Care and Share Food Pantry” will be open again this Friday from 1-2:15PM. Please stop by and take advantage of this opportunity. All families are welcome.

    9. Good luck to our all our sports teams this week. Volleyball, Soccer, and Football are wrapping their play up soon. Good luck to ALL our student athletes.
