Good Evening Heaton Families

This is Jayme Cardinal, Principal at Heaton calling with announcements for the week of February 26th through March 2nd.

    1. Mid Terms will go home tomorrow. We will be passing them out in the student’s 7th hour class. Please ask your child to see their mid-term. The 3rd nine weeks ends on March 30th.

    2. Please remember to call your child off if they are sick. Also please remember that if your child has 10 or more absences, a doctor’s note is required to excuse the absence. Our attendance line is 549-7422.

    3. Our building closes at 4:30PM. All students should be picked up by that time. There is no staff on duty to monitor students beyond that time. We have had some issues with destruction of school property inside the building lately. Our afternoon tutoring hours are from 4 to 4:45PM. Students who attend tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays must remain in the media center until then and need to be picked up promptly at 4:45. Thank you for your help and cooperation in this matter.

    4. 8th Grade Parents: Students that are enrolled to South High School will be meeting with their counselors tomorrow to schedule their Freshman classes. East, Centennial and Central will be here next Monday to meet with students.

    5. 8th Grade AVID students will be taking the PSAT 8/9 this Wednesday. When we receive the results we will share them with you and your student. The test will take place in the morning between 2nd and 5th hours.

    6. Student Council is sponsoring a community service project for the next two weeks. They are sponsoring Pennies for Patients. Last year, we collected $1600+ and it was a fight right down to the end between a couple of classes. This year SC has a goal of $2000. Student Council will provide a lunch from Olive Garden to the winning ASAP class. All monies will go to the American Cancer Society.

    7. Congratulations to Heaton’s Wrestling team and coaching staff! They placed 2nd at the 2018 City/County Championships! Great season for all students!! Also good luck to our girls basketball teams as they head into the playoffs this week.

    8. If you have any questions, please contact the school office. 549-7420.
