  1. We continue District Interim testing this week. 7th grader will test on Tuesday and 8th grader will test on Wednesday. Students test on Math and ELA. This helps guide our instruction so our expectation is that students do their very best. We will share the results with families once we have all the data analyzed. The primary data from our 6th graders shows promising results!

  1. We are beginning our Canned Food Drive for the Holiday season. We collect canned food not only for Pueblo Cooperative Care that feeds Pueblo but we also help families in the Heaton community. Our goal is to collect 3500 pounds of food which averages about 5 cans per student. We appreciate any help you can provide. Please remember it is all non-perishables we collect.

  2. Good luck to all our students participating in the District’s Pride and Patriotism Ceremony on Thursday evening at Memorial Hall. The event begins at 7PM.

  3. On Friday, we are hosting our first Discovery/Rediscovery Day sponsored by our MTSS Team. Students who maintained a 3.0 or higher for the first nine weeks and had no behavior or attendance issues will be attending trips based grade level.

6th Graders will be going to the SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO HERITAGE MUSEUM (to include a Tour of Heritage Museum, The Great Flood of 1921/Immigration and the Pueblo Railway Museum) and CENTER FOR AMERICAN VALUES ( to include the Walk of Valor and Veterans' Day ceremony).

7th Grade will visit CSU PUEBLO (to include Visitors' Center, Academic Tour and Activities in the Student Recreation Center) and Pueblo Community College (to include Academic Tours, lunch and Bingo Trivia).

8th grade will be visiting CENTENNIAL AND EAST HIGH SCHOOLS. High school is coming up fast for these students!

Students who didn’t qualify will remain at Heaton and will be working on improving their skills in the Cores. We will host another Discovery Day in the Spring.

Students will be back around 1:15PM.

  1. On Tuesday, November 15, we are hosting our first STEAM night. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Please make plans to join us! The night will give both students and parents an opportunity to apply math and reading skills to real world experiences. The evening begins at 6PM and will culminate with a performance by our spectacular JAZZ band! Please look for the flyer coming home this week!

  1. Finally, good luck to our boys basketball teams. We play away on Monday at CCA and on Thursday at Risley. We host Skyview on Wednesday at home. All games begin at 4:30PM.
