First, an update on Adair and the one way.  The street has been officially declared a one way.  City streets will be putting up one way signs.  The barricade will remain in place as a reminder.

Next, we will have class meetings this week to review student expectations and student data. Students who have arrived on time for the first quarter will be rewarded during the class meeting as well.  Congratulations to the 515 students who were able to make it to class on time and have two or less tardies.

This Friday, we have our first Discovery/Rediscovery Day.  Students who maintained the expected GPA and behaviors will be going on different trips.  8th graders will be going to East and Centennial to check out the high schools.  7th Graders will be going to PCC and CSU-P.  6th Graders will be going to the Nature Center, Hatchery and Pueblo Reservoir.  Students who didn't qualify will have the opportunity to go again during 2nd semester.  Congratulations to the 400 students who did qualify.  Students who didn't will work on improving their skills in reading, math, science and social studies.

On Tuesday, our 8th grade band will be playing and participating in the district's Pride and Patriotism event being held at Memorial Hall in the evening beginning at 6PM.  Also, we had several students win for the art contest as part of the event.  We encourage all parents to attend.  Tickets are available at the district office.  Seating is limited, so get your tickets.

Please support Student Council's canned food drive.  All the food collected stays within the Heaton community to help our families.  Please contact the counselors for more information regarding our basket give away for Thanksgiving.

Good luck to our boys basketball teams.  They are still undefeated.  They have gameson Monday and Thursday of this week. They travel to Liberty Point and Skyview this week.  No home games.   Good luck boys!
