This is Jayme Cardinal-Principal at Heaton. I am calling with announcements for the week April 10 through April 14
Report cards went home last week. Please ask your child to see their 3rd quarter report card. If you have any questions, please contact the main office or your child’s teachers.
Our overall average for attendance this past week was 94.7%. Our 6th grade averaged 94.3% for the week, 7th grade was at 94.7%, while the 8th grade was at 95.1%. Thank you for sending your child to school. Being at school is critical to their success.
PARCC testing went very well this week. Our entire staff was IMPRESSED by the student’s effort and use of time during the test. We will conclude testing this week. We will be testing all students on Reading/Writing this week. Also, the 8th graders will be taking Science. As a reminder to both parents and students, students CANNOT have their phones on them during the testing time. This is a STATE mandate and any student who violates this places themselves, their class, and the school in jeopardy of a misadministration. Thank you in advance for your help and understanding. Students will always have access to a phone in the school office during their testing time. We take the testing very serious. The scores students receive determine our overall rating by the state. Again, both our students and staff have work very hard this year. We are excited to see their progress and growth so far this school year.
Good luck to our boys and girls track team. They have a track meet at Pueblo West High School’s stadium at 4:30PM on Monday.
8th Grade Parents: The 8th grade Continuum will be on Monday, June 5th. The continuum portion of the event will be held at East High in their auditorium beginning at 5:30PM. The students will then need to return to Heaton for a dinner and dance. We chose to hold the continuum at East to accommodate families and seating. Unfortunately, Heaton cannot hold the large number of guest who attend the continuum event. In years past, families were left to stand in the hallway unable to see their child. We want to accommodate as many people as possible.
If you have any questions about any of these announcements, please feel free to contact the school.
